Scriptwriters are, in many ways, writing a love letter intended to woo the artist into giving their best possible work to the job. A bored or unengaged artist will show up on the page like a fibrous stool in the toilet bowl, and that’s not their fault — it’s yours.
Comics can be a serious art form but you can’t treat it like a vegetable — “eat it, it’s good for you” — that won’t work.
Anything made for the iPad is like performance art. I’m not interested in performance art. Comics are too hard to make to be done for such a passing blip.
